MUMBAI: A Badlapur-based Marathi and Bollywood actress Jayshree Gaikwad has alleged that a Pune-based fraudster Reshma Rahul Gaikwad aka Reshma Gani Kadekar aka Rani, her mother Zayda Kadekar aka Jaya and her husband Rahul Gaikwad, cheated her of over Rs 11,00,000/- (Rupees Eleven Lakh) by fraudulent means, committing forgery of documents and her signature over a period of time and even opening a fake bank account in her name to siphon off funds and her earnings.
According to written complaints submitted and duly acknowledged by the various departments of the Maharashtra police, who are investigating the case, Reshma Gaikwad aka Reshma Kadekar used to handle Jayshree’s work and manage her appointments and scheduling of shoots, events, paid online promotions and other film-related activity.
The payments received from clients, advertisers and sponsors would be credited into Jayashree’s bank account directly. However, Reshma fraudulently opened another fake bank account with a similar name and started taking payments into her own account, managed only by her, without the knowledge or approval of Jayshree, who was not aware of the cheating and scam behind her back. Reshma also took loans from Jayshree from time to time, citing some or the other family emergency and promising to return the money within a short while.
When her game was busted and Jayshree realised the con, getting to know about the cheating and fraud behind her back by her own manager Reshma, her mother Zayda Kadekar aka Jaya and her husband Rahul Gaikwad, she had been cheated of over Rs 11 lakh. According to her, she has alleged in her written complaints to the police, copies of which were checked by GFBT.Live, that she completely and blindly trusted her manager, who broke her trust, committed fraud and forgery and cheated her of Rs 11 lakh of her hard-earned money.
Jayshree has dispatched written complaints which are acknowledged, to the Thane Police Commissioner, DCP (Ulhasnagar), DCP (Kalyan) and Kiran Balvadkar, senior inspector of Badlapur East police station. While Reshma was summoned by the police and her statements were recorded, no further action was taken by the cops, in spite of several weeks going by. The cops claim its a private matter and keep saying that the criminal offences of breach of trust, cheating, fraud and forgery are not made out and have not yet registered an FIR in spite of being provided with all the documents, bank statements and other evidence.
Jayshree has alleged that Reshma, her mother Zayda and her husband Rahul Gaikwad have bribed the cops who are not taking registering the FIR and brushing off the matter as a ‘civil case’.
Badlapur East police officials when contacted said they were not aware of the case, in spite of this reporter explaining to them that there were acknowledged complaint letters submitted by the victim over the last few months. All three accused persons were unavailable for their comments or their side of the story.
Jayshree has been running from pillar to post over the last few months to get justice and recover her money, but the cops have conveniently classifed the matter as a ‘private civil case’.
According to Jayshree, she has now approached the local magistrate’s court and filed a private case in the criminal court for cheating, forgery and fraud.
However, Reshma, her husband and her mother have said that this is a false case and they are being harassed for money. We have already given our explanation to the Badlapur East police along with all the proof and details and hence no FIR was registered. The money has been already returned to Jayashree and she is just harassing us and using social media to defame us. We have also approached the police and the cyber crime department of the police in Pune to take appropriate action. We are registering an FIR against Jayashree Gaikwad for defaming and causing harassment, Rahul Gaikwad said, adding that they have approached Pune police against Jayashree Gaikwad.
Jayashree on her part claims that she will move the court on Monday for appropriate reliefs and in fact the Badlapur police are also going to register an FIR for cheating.
