PANAJI: The Goa Fire department has cancelled the fire licence or NOC granted to Diaz night club at Caga Waddo, Anjuna, citing major fire safety deficiencies.
Officials said a surprise inspection carried out on December 13 on the club premises, found the fire prevention and safety systems at the premises to be insufficient or non working. There were also other drawbacks or issues in case of a major fire, which could lead to a catastrophic situation.
Following the findings, the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services revoked the NOC with immediate effect and communicated the decision to the management and local panchayat for further action.
The Diaz night club has other issues as well, besides inadequate fire fighting systems, a panchayat source said.
