MUMBAI/BHOPAL: As of filing this story, a Mumbai-based well-known film director, two Bollywood actors and two women, one of them being the manager of Bigg Boss 16 contestant Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, are being held hostage at the Hotel Tulip Inn Bhopal by the hotel authorities since the last 4 days.
According to sources, the producer of Sky Space Films, Alok Kumar Choube defaulted on payment to the hotel and a bill of Rs 4,50,000/- is due. Choubey had roped in Mumbai-based investor Sanjay Gupta who has already invested and paid Rs 1.40 crore, which was his due or his part of the project. Choube was unable to arrange his finances due to the holiday and festive season and his payments got delayed, resulting in the hotel Tulip Inn of the Sarovar Hotels Group, confining the actors and manager to the confines of the premises.
Sources in Mumbai informed that investor Sanjay Gupta’s office in Mumbai offered to make the payment and said they have already issued post-dated cheques to Hotel Tulip Inn and Hotel Abhinandan Palace, also in Bhopal for next week. In spite of issuing cheques and a written undertaking to the concerned hotel managements, the staff at Hotel Tulip Inn has refused to let the guests leave and police had to be called.
Officials in Mumbai from investor Sanjay Gupta’s office have been negotiating with the management of Hotel Tulip Inn and Sarovar Hotels but no avail for the last two days. The legal in-charge at Sanjay Gupta’s office also contacted the corporate office of Sarovar Hotels, requesting for clemancy, but they refused to relent and refused to let the guests leave, untill the cheques were cleared. “We asked them to at least let the women go,” but Hotel Tulip Inn management refused to listen.
Thane In-charge (TI) of Shahapura police station, Shri Lokendra Thakur, under whose jurisdiction hotel Tulip Inn is located, said he was not aware of the matter, but would investigate the accusations. According to sources, women are being allowed to leave, after the police intervened and the TI Lokendra Thakur visited the hotel. More details are awaited.
