LONDON: Famed Hollywood director, David S Wolfe, in an exclusive tie-up with Mumbai-based Purple Orchid Films and director Maneesh F Singh has announced a festival film that is expected to be screened at international film festivals like the Cannes Film Festival in France, Venice Film Festival in Italy and Berlin Film Festival in Germany in late 2026.
Shooting for the film will begin in the first week of February this year and Bollywood actress Simranpreet Kaur Arora who originally hails from Amritsar has been signed on as a main lead for the project.
Wolfe had earlier planned to shoot his film ‘Love & Passion‘ starring an Indian actor and other Hollywood actors, but the project was shelved as he was denied a visa and the government did not permit shooting at historic locations like the Taj Mahal.
“Love & Passion” was to be aesthetically shot in locales like Scotland, Thailand and in southern parts of India including Goa and Pondicherry, but had to be shelved. Wolfe has now revived the project and is scouting for new talent.
Speaking to reports from Sussex, Great Britain, he said that that he had commenced work on an international festival film and will be visiting India next month.
Simranpreet or Simmy or Gudiya as she is known as among her family and friends, is slated to play the main lead role in David S Wolfe’s project.
Who is Simranpreet Kaur Arora?
20-year-old, Simranpreet Kaur Arora who is from Punjab, has done professional acting courses and is also a writer – she has a collection of short stories. While she was born in Punjab, she has lived in West Bengal, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
Her hobbies include practising and studying kick boxing, karate, painting and dancing. She also a professional dancer and has learned Kathak and other forms of Indian dance. She is an animal lover and enjoys listening to motivational songs during her free time.
She was also a winner of Ms Kolkata (for Cuteness) in the year 2019 and has participated in several pageants and done hundreds of ramp shows in her career of over 5 years. She started acting and modeling at the age of 15 and has been working since then.
